Miss Independent

Tori had quite the week. She stayed at Grandma Pam's for a couple of hours on Tuesday so Brian and I could go out to dinner alone for my birthday then Saturday night Nana Rose stayed at our house and watched her overnight. It is still hard to leave her but we really appreciate the alone time and some quality sleep!

My little stinker is trying to stand already :-) I just can't believe how strong she is. She's not even six weeks old yet and she has such good head control and can even bear her weight on her legs. She already loves to be thrown around and "fly" around the room, she smiles and coos a little when Brian throws her in the air.

Who needs a pony when you have Jordan! Daisy (our other pug) is still not quite sure what to think of the new addition to the family but Jordan has really taken to the baby, she loves to sleep right next to her. I'm sure they'll be good friends when she gets old enough to play.

Tori is starting to get a little better about letting me put her down during the day, she loves to sleep in her sweet peace. Don't get me wrong, I love holding her, but it is nice to be able to get a few things done while she naps.

Weekend fun!

Brian has been wanting to go play minigolf so we went this past Saturday. Brian carried Tori in the baby bjorn which worked really well except the baby's head was blocking his view of the ball. It must not have been to bad for him though because he won by more strokes than I care to write. I must say it looked a little strange but we had a good time!We also took Tori to her first wedding! She was excellent (she slept the whole time) and it was so nice to get to spend some time with my coworkers!

Glorious glorious sleep!!

There is celebration in the Davis household! For the past week Tori has been sleeping for a 5 hour stretch at night. It is so nice to be able to sleep for more than an hour or two at a time. As an added bonus, Brian is going to try to get up with her tonight and bottle feed her so all I have to do is pump and go right back to bed. Its so nice to finally be falling into some sort of routine again!

4 weeks old

This past month has been so full of wonderful experiences and so many "firsts." Tori has changed so much already! She is starting to play for a few minutes at a time. She is completely enamored with rattles! She has been spending time in the play gym that she borrowed from cousin Braden. She usually stares at the toy monkey so I have started putting her hand around its leg and she LOVES it! She cries when its time to let go :-)

Tori had her first bath from Nana Rose and honorary grandma Debbie. She loves bathtime, she sprawls out in the warm water and get such a relaxed look on her face. We are so looking forward to when she's old enough to play in the tub.

It's also Illinois State Fair time! We took Tori over the weekend. We did a little walking around tents, watched the high dive show, ate fair food, and spent some time at "The Wine Experience." We have been trying to spend a little time outside every day. When its not too hot out Victoria loves to sleep in the sun and swing on the jungle gym in the back yard. She loves being outside.

We can't wait to see how much she will change and grow in the next 4 weeks! She is such a great baby, I couldn't imagine life without her!!

5am photo shoot

Tori didn't want to sleep a few mornings ago and since she was wide awake I took advantage. She is definitely not camera shy! Working the camera finally tuckered her out and she took a nice long nap :P

The Amazing Tori Davis!

Tori is exactly 3 weeks old today and she held her head up at a 45 degree angle! Thankfully Brian was home and we both were watching when she did it for the first time! I can't believe how much she has grown in just 3 weeks. She has already grown out of newborn diapers and some of her clothes are getting tight already. It is so amazing to watch her change every day.

First swim in Grandpa's pool

The weather was so perfect today (we're finally getting some heat in the midwest) so we went over to Grandpa Jim's and went swimming for the first time! Tori loves to be outside and is really enjoying her baths so we thought she would love the pool. She didn't like it much at first but after a little time she stopped crying and seemed ok with being in the water. I'm sure next year we won't be able to keep her out of the water.

Look what I can do!

Tori is changing so much already! She has been holding her head up for very short periods of time since she was 2 days old (Brian's mom said he did the same thing) but now when we hold her up against our shoulder she keeps her head up for a long time and has much better control over her movements. She can even hold her head up while lying on her belly! We also finally got a picture of her smiling! She's been smiling since she was a week old but they're so quick we haven't been able to capture one. Her little toothless smile is so adorable!

Tori's first real bath!

Tori has a belly button!! Her umbilical cord stump fell off yesturday so she got her first real bath. She actually seemed to enjoy it until we took her out of the water, then she screamed her little head off.

Daddy's Little Girl

Brian goes back to work tomorrow and he will be greatly missed! He's been trying to spend as much time with the baby as possible. Tori and I are going to meet him for lunch and visit with his friends at work tomorrow so they don't go all day without seeing eachother. Brian fed Tori her first bottle a few days ago, she took to it very well.
