1 week old!
I can't believe that Tori is a week old already! At the same time though, I can't remember what life was like before she arrived. She has changes our lives so dramatically and we love her so much. I love watching Brian with her, he is so good at getting her to calm down when she's fussy. I don't know what i'm going to do when he go's back to work on Monday. Wish us luck!

Such a sweet baby
Tori made amazing progress with her sleepingover the past 2 days. Friday night she only kept me up for a few hours (instead of literally all night). She slept like an angel last night, only waking to be fed every 2 to 3 hours then going right back to sleep. That is a huge change from her first few days when she cried the instant we would lay her down so someone had to be awake at all times. She has also been crying less during day and is so much more content when she's awake. She is such a sweet baby!

Sleeping beauty
After two days of uncontrolable screaming unless she was being held constantly we were so excited when we were able to lay her down for the first time without crying. She's getting a little better each day but seems to have her days and nights confused right now (hence the 4am posting). She sleeps so contently while the sun is up and just wants to be nursed and held all night. Hopefully we'll figure things out soon.
Thank goodness for grandparents!
Tori loves spending time with her grandparents! (And we love you too!) Thank you so much for everything you've all done over the past few days, and even more thankful for the past 20-something years. You've all been great examples for us in how we want to raise our daughter. Its funny how having a baby of your own makes you appreciate all that your own parents have done for you.

Going home!
Since everything went so well and Tori is in perfect health, our doctor said we only needed to stay 24 hours after the delivery (we could have stayed longer if we wanted). We were starting to feel trapped after 3 days in the same room and we weren't getting any rest because of staff coming in our room constantly to ask if there was anything we needed so we took the offer to leave early. It is soooo nice to be back home and comfortable.

Victoria's Arrival
Only 5 1/2 hours after starting the induction Victoria was ready to be born! She must have been excited to meet everyone because the doctors couldn't believe how quickly she came. Labor was very intense, but the nurses and doctors did a fantastic job (especially on my epidural). Everything went great and at 11:35am she was born.
I must take a moment to also brag on my husband. For someone who wasn't sure how he would handle seeing me in pain and watching the delivery, he did amazing. He wasn't sqeemish in the least. He helped me through the contractions, did great during the delivery, and he even cut the cord. The doctors put her directly onto my chest and cleaned her off there. So amazing! They allowed us to have her for almost 2 hours before the nurses even took her to do her meds (eye ointment included!). We did eventually have to give her up to be weighed and measured. She was 7 pounds 10 1/2 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long.

A Most Precious Package
Victoria Rose Davis entered this world at 11:35 a.m. She is 19.5 inches long and weighs 7 lbs. 10.5 ounces. Tori was very indignant about being born, letting everyone know how she felt. She is absolutely beautiful. Mom and dad did great through the whole labor and delivery. I was so proud of them. (This is Nana Painter blogging by the way!) Manda had to do very little pushing. Daddy was not in the least squeamish about seeing the birth and even cut the chord. I know all of you are wanting to see a picture of her. The kids have most of them, and they are a little too tired and preoccupied, so you will have to excuse them. I took two pictures of the baby on Jeff's camera and I will add them here if I can figure out how. Jeff. Brian's mom, Pam, my friends Debbie and Bob Trammel and I were all there to support the kids. Click on the pictures and you can view them really big.

Before our last night as just a couple...
Before we go to bed I thought I would let you all know whats going on. I went in to my OB for my 40 week appointment today. During the sonogram they did a biophysical profile which involves looking at the fluid level and movements. My fluid level was boarder line low and we think I have been leaking amniotic fluid since last night so they decided to go ahead and start the induction process today. They sent me right to the hospital and I called Brian to leave work, get the bags, and meet me at St John's. His reaction was too cute, just "are you serious?" They started medicated insert called Cervidil around 5, which stays in place for 12 hours to prepare my cervix for the induction. Then I get a shower and a light breakfast then it's labor time! They are planning on starting the pitocin around 6am. I am already dilated to between 2 and 3 and I've been contracting since the Cervidil was placed so it may not be a terribly long labor. We are going to try to rest now, tomorrow we meet our baby girl!!!
At the hospital!!!

39 Week Appointment
I can't believe we have less than a week to go!! I'm still only one cm dilated but doc says her noggin is really low and I've thinned a lot so a little progress but not quite ready yet. Brian and I have been walking, eating spicy food, and doing all the things they say help but nothing yet. We went ahead and scheduled a sonogram for next Monday to check her out and make sure it is safe to continue the pregnancy and scheduled an induction at the hospital on July 25th (next Saturday!) just in case she hasn't decided to arrive yet. Everything is still looking great, no swelling, my blood pressure is great, and I'm not terribly unconfortable so I am going to continue to work the rest of this week and the begining of next (yes, past my due date, uhg). I want to have as much time with the baby as possible and I think I would be bored just sitting around the house waiting for her. Hopefully she will decide to come before then but it's so nice to know there is an end and that its not far away. Less than two weeks until we're holding Tori in our arms!

38 week appointment
Well, nothing exciting this week. I haven't had many contractions lately so I wasn't expecting much. There is basically no progress compared to last week. We were getting excited because I was having false labor so often but that seems to have stopped for the moment. Hopefully there will be some progress by my appointment next week!
